YEREVAN. – The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has not received applications from MP candidates in Election District No. 38 of Syunik Region.
Spokesperson for the CEC Silva Markosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the deadline is slated for August 15.
Former Kapan mayor Armen Karapetyan will be nominated as a candidate of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia. ARF Dashnakstutyun representatives said they would make public their decision in the next few days. According to agency’s information, Prosperous Armenia Party would not nominate a candidate for the seat.
The MP seat from Election District No. 38 remained vacant when Vahe Hakobyan, who was elected into the parliament from this district, was appointed Syunik Governor on July 11. The early parliamentary elections will be conducted on September 29.
