YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ashot Hovakimyan on Friday met with Dragana Rankovic, Delegate of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Office in Yerevan.
Hovakimyan met with Ms. Rankovic to obtain clarifications on the ICRC Armenia delegation’s activities concerning Hakob Injighulyan.
The deputy FM called upon the Red Cross Armenia delegation to exert more intensive mediation efforts to resolve this matter, and he underscored the need for close cooperation with the ICRC delegation in Azerbaijan.
In turn Rankovic informed that the ICRC Armenia delegation is taking the necessary steps so that the representatives of the ICRC Office in Baku receive permission to visit Injighulyan.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, Armenian soldier Hakob Injighulyan (born in 1991) found himself in the territory under the control of the adversary. According to preliminary information, Injighulyan turned up there on August 8 at around 3am, while carrying out his military service, by crossing the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR)-Azerbaijan border, and as a result of losing his orientation in the area. An investigation is underway to determine the details of the incident, the NKR MOD press service had informed.
