April 1, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon met with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov in Baku in the frames of his visit to Central Asia.

According to Azerbaijani foreign office, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was in focus of the talks. Mammadyarov informed Secretary General about the recent developments in negotiation process and presented Azerbaijan’s stance on the issue. Azerbaijani FM noted that the conflict might be resolved only in frames of norms and principles of international law and Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.

Ban Ki-moon said he is hopeful for swift settlement of the Karabakh conflict and expressed confidence that resolution will positively impact the whole region.

The sides also discussed regional developments, Trend News reports.
