YEREVAN. – The demonstrators, who have gathered Wednesday in front of the Armenian National Assembly (NA) building, are awaiting the NA voting results for the proposal to discuss the making of amendments to the new law on cumulative pensions (PHOTOS).
Holding banners, the demonstrators are protesting against the new cumulative pension plan that will come into effect in Armenia on January 1, 2014.
To note, this plan will be mandatory for those born after 1974 and voluntary for those born before 1974. In line with this plan, 5 percent of the monthly salaries in Armenia will be deducted and mandatorily be allocated to cumulative pension funds.
The number of demonstrators that have gathered across the parliament building on Wednesday is greater than on Tuesday, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informs.
The police, including the red-beret special forces, are patrolling along the NA sidewalk.
