YEREVAN. – Corruption devours $2.5 billion from the budget of Armenia.

Opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) bloc National Assembly Faction leader, ANC Party Vice-Chairman Levon Zurabyan told the aforesaid at a press conference on Wednesday. 

In Zurabyan’s words, as a result of the ties with business and not levying the taxes, the Armenian budget loses $1.7-1.8 billion each year.

According to the opposition MP, the “looting” of the budget expenditures has totaled $750 million, which is very close to the figures presented in the most recent Control Chamber report.         

“In addition, there is the problem of the unlawful spending by the procurement and the senior officials.   

“The state, however, wishes to present systemic corruption as individual cases,” Levon Zurabyan concluded.
