YEREVAN. – If the Armenian citizen had trust in Court of Cassation, then in the case of an accident involving the actor Vardan Petrosyan, murder of entrepreneur Avetik Budaghyan and killing of doctor Vahe Avetyan every citizen would not try to become a judge, and would have expected fair judgment.
This is stated in the special report of the Armenian Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan on fair judicial inquiry. The report was published on the eve of Human Rights Day marked on December 10.
The report says if the court made fair decision, people would not seek justice in the streets on such issues as transportation fare rise, illegal construction in Komitas Avenue or problems concerning the Covered Market.
The report also noted that the Chairmen of the Court of Cassation and its two chambers Arman Mkrtumyan, David Avetisyan and Yervand Khundkaryan are not exercising its proper activities, because otherwise thousands of people would not have been deprived of their houses, money, salary, their children, there would not have been innocent people in jail and criminals would not have remained at large.
