YEREVAN. – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Armenia will launch, on Friday at 5:30pm, a photo exhibition marking 150 years of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

The exhibition will take place on the 2nd floor of Moscow Cinema in Yerevan. With this event, the ICRC will commemorate the humanitarian assistance and protection provided to millions of people across the world. The photo exhibition will bring together representatives of the Armenian government, diplomatic corps, international organizations, local NGOs, academia, and media.

Entitled “ICRC: 150 years of humanitarian action from 1863 to 2013,” the exhibition will offer a selection of 55 historic and contemporary images spanning the Spanish-American War of 1898, the two world wars of the twentieth century, and the armed conflicts of the past decades including Afghanistan, Sudan, Libya, and Syria. A special collection of photographs will present the ICRC’s activities in Armenia. The exhibition will remain on display until  December 23.

Throughout its history, the ICRC has stood by persons suffering the consequences of the ever-changing forms of armed conflicts and other situations of violence. The ICRC currently operates in more than ninety countries. It has won the Nobel Peace Prize on three occasions.
