YEREVAN. – The National Assembly (NA) of Armenia will convene a special session on Friday.
During the session, the Armenian lawmakers will also discuss the controversial agreement that was signed on December 2 between the Armenian government and the Russian energy giant Gazprom Company.
Pursuant to this agreement, Armenia will be obligated to be dependent on the Russian natural gas until the year 2043. Moreover, and until that time, Armenia will have no right to take any action that would make changes in this agreement.
A protest will kick off at 11:30am in front of the NA building. The demonstrators will demand from the MPs to respect the sovereignty of Armenia and to vote against the implementation of the aforesaid agreement which, as per the opposition forces, is nothing but capitulation.
