Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev urged the United Nations to send peacekeeping forces to Kyrgyzstan to prevent mass riots, RIA Novosti reports. According to him, local police and army will be unable to ensure order in case riots resume.

Bakiyev said he did not believe in the ongoing investigation, offering to form an international independent fact-finding committee for the investigation of April 7 events.

“If an international independent committee carrying out an investigation, arrives at conclusion that the president is to blame, I am prepared to bear full responsibility before my people,” Bakiyev stated in the interview with RIA Novosti.

A representative of the interim government Edil Baysalov refuted the information spread by the local media, on the presence of sanctions against Kyrgyz President. According to him, interim government bears responsibility for Bakiyev’s security and is ready to ensure it in case of lynching, ITAR-TASS informs.
