YEREVAN. – Regardless of the pursued objective, official Baku’s unfounded criticism of official Yerevan can be impressive solely for the residents of Azerbaijan.

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian noted the aforementioned at Monday’s joint news conference with David Lidington, the Minister for Europe at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

In his words, a criticism by Azerbaijan, which the prominent international organizations have recognized as a striking example of dictatorship, is nothing but an idle gossip. Specifically, as per Nalbandian, a criticism by Saddam Hussein, the former President of Iraq who was sentenced to death and was hanged, also would have had such an impression.

In turn, David Lidington stated that the UK parliament members have expressed concern over the current situation in a variety of countries, including Armenia. Overall, the British minister stressed the delicacy of the situation when economic interests may compromise moral principles.
