Manvel Vardanyan, 44, who has been detained for his involvement in Monday’s tragic road crash in Armenia’s Shirak Region, was arrested on Thursday. 

Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned from the Police that criminal charges have been brought against him, and two months’ detention has been set as his restraining order.

A tragic road accident occurred Monday evening on Armenia’s Gyumri-Yerevan highway, as a passenger van and a truck collided. As a result, the van exploded, seven passengers died on the spot, and another seven were hospitalized. The Police launched a criminal investigation, and the truck driver, Manvel Vardanyan, was detained.
