YEREVAN. - At the moment, the Agreement on Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union is not yet scheduled for ratification in Armenian Parliament, said the Parliament Committee on Foreign Relations Head Artak Zakarian, Armenian News - NEWS.am reports.

According to him, it is not yet clear which parliament committee will present the issue.

“Nevertheless, we, in the Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly (Parliament), held a working discussion with deputy ministers of three departments - the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Finances and Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” said the MP. “The [positive] decision of the Constitutional Court was very important and I believe we will soon organize parliamentary hearings on the issue.”

According to Zakarian, the issue will probably be discussed at the next four-day session. He added that the Agreement on accession of Armenia to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEC) is a very important document in its essence and content, which is of great historical significance.

“From an economic point of view, it is a fundamental document. After joining the EAEC, Armenia may gain a considerable potential for the development of mutually beneficial economic relations with other union members on the common economic space,” Artak Zakarian added.

Earlier the Constitutional Court of Armenia recognized as constitutional the Agreement on Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union. Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Gagik Harutyunyan read the decision that the Agreement is recognized as fully constitutional.
