YEREVAN. – Polish Ambassador Zdzisław Raczyński, who is ending his diplomatic mission in Armenia, on Monday held a press conference and assessed the results of his virtually five-year diplomatic activities in the country.

“Armenia developed its relations with Poland more actively over the course of the past five years. Poland became more clear and comprehensible for Armenia,” the ambassador noted.

The Polish diplomat, however, was most cautious when assessing European Union (EU)-Armenia relations.

“I will not hide [the fact] that I hoped Armenia would become an [EU] associate member. [But] the EU-Armenia discourse continues and will continue. It’s just that there is a need to find new forms of discourse and cooperation.

“My country favors closer cooperation between Armenia and the EU. It is an initiator of the Eastern Partnership,” the Polish ambassador recalled.

As for Armenia-Poland bilateral relations, he expressed a conviction that it is indispensable to maintain the political dialogue at a high level and to develop cooperation in the domains of economy, culture, and education.

Raczyński added that life is impossible without romance and a flight of imagination.

“The courage of expectations is important,” the Polish ambassador stressed expressing his wishes to the residents of Armenia. “You are the state. You can’t always blame each other. You need to ask yourself: What have I done to make life better?”
