In all likelihood, the Armenian Genocide issue will be put on the agenda of the talks between Pope Francis and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey.
The French-Armenian Nouvelles d’Arménie magazine reported the aforesaid citing Vatican Radio.
Ahead of the Pope’s visit to Turkey, the latter’s ambassador to the Vatican, Mehmet Pacaci, told reporters that the Pope continues to insist on the importance of dialogue.
“We [, Turkey,] also seek dialogue with the Armenian side in the dispute between Armenia and Turkey, and we expect that our position finds support also by religious institutions such as the Vatican,” the Turkish ambassador noted.
