YEREVAN. – President Serzh Sargsyan on Wednesday had a working lunch with ambassadors of the European Union (EU) member states, who are accredited in Armenia, and Ambassador Traian Hristea, who is Head of the Delegation of the EU to Armenia.

The President spoke with the ambassadors about Armenia’s foreign policy issues, and the regional matters and challenges.

Sargsyan thanked the EU for its assistance in Armenia’s ongoing reforms, and its commitment to continue this assistance in the coming years.

Serzh Sargsyan expressed a conviction that, today, it is possible to conduct an effective policy solely by way of synthesizing the systems of discourse, mutual understanding, and integration.

The President also presented the latest developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process and the ongoing efforts by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries to achieve a pacific settlement to this conflict. Also, he reflected on Azerbaijan’s destructive policy in this respect and, as case in point, he pointed to its recent downing of an Armenian helicopter.

In addition, Serzh Sargsyan spoke about the course of Armenia’s ongoing reforms, including the proposed constitutional amendments.

Subsequently, the interlocutors exchanged views on the aforesaid topics.
