YEREVAN. -- A criminal case has been opened on the death of a forty-day-old baby in Armenia.

The Investigation Committee informed that on November 16, infant resident Narine Khachatryan (born on October 7) of Jrashen village of the Lori Region was taken by her parents to the Spitak city medical center to receive medical treatment.

The physicians, however, did not provide her medical assistance and, instead, recommended that she be taken to the Vanadzor city medical center. They did not carry out their professional duties, they were careless and negligent, and this led to the death of the child.

As a result, the Investigation Committee opened a criminal case against the respective Spitak Medical Center employees, and for not carrying out their professional duties and negligently causing Narine Khachatryan’s death.

An investigation is launched into the incident.
