YEREVAN. – In all probability, Armenia’s new draft Constitution will be ready this month.

Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun Party National Assembly (ARF NA) Faction Head Armen Rustamyan stated the aforementioned at Friday’s NA briefings.

He added that even though it is yet unclear whether the ARF will submit recommendations for this draft Constitution, in all likelihood, the country’s leadership is not likely to keep the semi-presidential, or, even more so, the presidential system.  

“The Constitution adopted in 1995 basically defines a constitutional monarchy. Instead of democracy, we have established a plutocracy, which is defined by ‘money-power-more money,’” Rustamyan said. “The parliamentary system—the giving of power to not one, but several people—will destroy this vicious circle.”
