Turkey and Greece discussed cooperation in the sphere of security in the Aegean Sea, Turkey’s FM Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said Tuesday during the meeting with his Greek counterpart Nikolaos Kotzias.

“We discussed the steps that our countries could take in order to avoid unpleasant results of the military activities in the Aegean Sea. We also considered all the possible measures for the overall increase of security level in this region,” Çavuşoğlu said, TASS reports.  

Turkey doesn’t recognize Greece’s 10-mile air space round the islands, considering that the Greek air space is restricted to 6 nautical miles. Consequently, the Turkish armed battle-planes systematically invade the fly zone of Athens without providing flight plans, while Greece answers with its battle-planes, which forces the violators out from the Greek air space.
