Regardless of how many times the adversary comes up with military rhetoric, the Armenian Armed Forces maintain peace without the interference of a third party, Armenia’s Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said at a meeting with the participants “Baze-2015” Pan-Armenian Youth Gathering held in Armenia’s spa town Tsaghkadzor.
According to him, in the beginning of this year, the tension continued in the line of contact in the Karabakh conflict zone. “It only slowed down and stopped in the period of the European Games held in our neighbor’s country. We stated we would not go for the exacerbation of the situation. We’re not of a kind to capitalize on an adverse situation in our adversary’s country. We also expected exacerbation after the European Games. There were attempts and they are still continuing,” Ohnayan said.
Ha also said stay-behind actions were much more frequent last year.
“This year the adversary is shooting from large-scale mortar guns,” the Minister said.
In his words, the international reality continues to first of all emphasise the non-use of force, right to self-determination of peoples, which Armenia advocates for, and, of course, territorial integrity.
The Minister also said 2014 was a year of achievements and strengthening of positions, which, according to him, wasn’t causality.
