YEREVAN. – When it became clear that President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan plans to make the country’s system of governance parliamentary and endow the next president only a symbolic role, several groups met with Sargsyan, and with suggestions for the nominees for the future president, reported Haykakan Zhamanak daily.

“Our sources say that especially the [respective] candidacies of [Russian Armenian businessmen] Ruben Vardanyan and Ara Abrahamyan were nominated. 

“[But] our sources claim that if the [current] constitutional amendments are adopted, the most likely nominee for the symbolic President [of Armenia] is the President of the CC [i.e. the Constitutional Court], Gagik Harutyunyan,” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
