YEREVAN. – The materials regarding the incidents linked to Ruben Hayrapetyan, President of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA), and Mher Sedrakyan, an MP of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), have been sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Public Relations Department of the General Prosecutor’s Office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the office had asked for and received all reports related to these incidents.
RPA Spokesperson Eduard Sharmazanov—who is also Vice President of the National Assembly—on Thursday stated that President—and RPA Chairman—Serzh Sargsyan had instructed to strictly investigate these incidents, and that the attorney general’s office will be releasing an official communiqué in this regard.
The wife of Arsen Avetisyan, the 51-percent proprietor and also Director of Air Armenia CJSC, had stated that, on August 15, Ruben Hayrapetyan’s bodyguards had kidnapped her husband and brutally beaten him in the FFA president’s presence. On Thursday, however, Avetisyan issued an open letter to the public noting that he is reconciling with Hayrapetyan.
Separately, on August 15, a group of people had beaten Vahan Martirosyan, head of the “Intra-national Liberation Movement” initiative, and his wife, in their home. Martirosyan had told us that they were beaten by the close circles and bodyguards of RPA MP Mher Sedrakyan.
