The South Ossetian authorities have decided to close their border with Georgia on August 25 and 26.

During that time, South Ossetia will mark the seventh anniversary of Russia’s recognition of its independence, and respective celebrations will be held. 

The border crossing with Georgia will be reopened on August 27, Sputnik news agency reported citing the press service of the State Security Committee of South Ossetia.

Guests from Russia, Abkhazia, North Ossetia, and several other countries also are expected to visit South Ossetia during these two days.

There are three checkpoints on the South Ossetia-Georgia border.
