YEREVAN. - Relatives of the 8-month-old twins, who died due to the fault of epileptic driver Razmik Avetisyan, demand the most severe punishment for him.
Anna Harutyunyan, the children’s mother, wasn’t able to attend the hearing of the case.
Anna’s father, Michael Harutyunyan, told Armenian News – NEWS.am his daughter is ill and can’t come to her senses after the death of the twins. “She’s in shock. To lose two children at the age of 30… We demand to punish the defendant to the fullest extent of the law, as well as provide moral and material compensation,” he said.
Michael Harutyunyan reminded that the defendant Razmik Avetisyan was representing a state institution (Ministry of Defense) and was concealing his disease, epilepsy. According to Harutyunyan, the story about the disease appeared afterwards to discharge the defendant.
The defense is very aggressive: the defendant’s sister, Sona Davtyan, said “the mother of the twins is pretending ill,” and that everything is being done to snap up more money from them. “It is my brother who is ill, it is he who needs care,” the woman said, adding that “an accident took place” and “we mourn the babies’ death more than they do.”
Davtyan said his brother doesn’t remember the moment of the accident, since he was unconscious then.
On February 19, driver of Volkswagen Razmik Avetisyan hit Anna Harutyunyan with her two twins and Anahit Karapetyan, 82. One of the babies died immediately, while the other passed away in the hospital. Both of the women also sustained injuries.
