An MP has submitted written questions to the Minister of the Interior of Turkey regarding the fire that had broken out around an Armenian monastery in the country.

Agos Armenian bilingual weekly of Istanbul reported that pro-Kurdish “Peoples’ Democratic Party” (HDP) MP Ali Atalan stressed the following points in his questions addressed to the Turkish interior minister, and in connection with the fire that had broken out on August 15 around the Gomots (Gomk) Monastery in Sason district in the Batman Province of Turkey:

Will the Armenian Surp Bedros (St. Peter’s) Church, which was damaged during the attack, and the Armenian graves in the vicinity be restored?

Have those that started out the fire been found?

Have you thought about the fact that the attacks against Turkey’s monasteries and graves belonging to Armenians are racially motivated?

Have actions been carried out against the attackers?

Are there video recordings of the attack?
