YEREVAN. – On Wednesday, the attention of the economic circles of the world was focused on the US Federal Reserve System—also known as the Fed—, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reported.

“The Fed decided to increase the refinancing interest rate by 0.25 percentage points.

“Herewith, the ‘price’ of the US dollar rises. Analysts consider this event as the ‘main intrigue of the year.’

“The problem is that even the slightest change in interest rates in the US will have an impact on the economies of all countries of the world.

“For example, Central Bank of RF [i.e. the Russian Federation] Chairwoman Elvira Nabiullina noted that as a result of this event, the capital outflow from Russia will grow. This will have a negative impact on the RF economy, and [therefore] the RA [i.e. the Republic of Armenia] economy also will not remain unaffected from this,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
