YEREVAN. – According to the eleven-month data for 2015, the increase in the number of accidents has dropped in Armenia.

Head of the Patrol Service Department of the Traffic Police, Norik Sargsyan, noted the aforementioned at a press conference on Friday.

In his words, a total of 3,104 motor vehicle road accidents were recorded in the country during this time, and 308 people had died as a result of these accidents.

In addition, the number of car accidents and ensuing deaths and injuries has increased by 207, 30 and 184, respectively, as compared to the previous year.

“There is an increase in the number of road traffic accidents and [resultant] deaths; however, this growth has decreased,” Sargsyan noted. “If the increase was about 12 percent in 2014, this year—7 percent; that is, we managed to somewhat reduce the growth trend.”

In Norik Sargsyan’s words, more than 150 thousand cars were imported to Armenia in the last five years, such number of car imports has contributed to the increase in traffic accidents in the country.
