STEPANAKERT. – The two-day relative calm along the Line of Contact between the Karabakh-Azerbaijani opposing forces was broken on Friday, and as a result of a provocative action by the Azerbaijani armed forces.

Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Defense Army serviceman Karen Akulyan (born in 1997) sustained a fatal gunshot wound at around 1pm, at a protection area of a Defense Army unit, and as a result of sniper fire by the adversary.

An investigation is underway to find out the details of this incident, informed the NKR Ministry of Defense.
