YEREVAN. – The year 2015 was tense for Turkey, turkologist Vahram Ter-Matevosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, several events took place in Turkey for the first time in the closing year.

“In terms of domestic politics, the holding of two parliamentary elections was certainly important,” Ter-Matevosyan noted. “[And] a transitional government was set up for the first time between the two elections.

“Over 200 civilians were killed and injured in the three large-scale terrorist actions that took place in the closing year.

“The Kurdish issue again reminded about itself.

“The political instability during the closing year also impacted Turkey’s economy, recording an unprecedented drop in economic indicators.”
