The famous Serbian filmmaker Emir Kusturica visited the Armenia Genocide Memorial during his visit to Yerevan, website of the Jadovno concentration camp in Croatia reports.

Five and a half years ago, during his first trip to Yerevan, Kusturica also visited Tsitsernakaberd [Armenian Genocide Memorial] and planted a memorial tree in the memory park, the website reports.  

“Kustirica met with the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan. Instead of the scheduled 20 minutes, the talk with the President lasted for an hour. Kusturica gifted the President the Russian edition of his book called Sto jada (Hundred Pains).

On December 25, Kusturica gave a concert in Yerevan together with his band “No Smoking Orchestra,” the website writes.

Jadovo death camp was opened in 1941 by the Croatian collaborationist government of  Ustaše. Ten thousands of Croatian communists, Serbs, Jews and gypsies died in the camp. The monument was attended by the supreme leadership, including the Croatian President. The community of Jadovno commemoration was opened by the Serbs, who were the successors of the victims.
