The heads of member states and partners of NATO confirmed commitment to long-term stability and security of Afghanistan.

The security situation and the reform process conducted by Afghan authorities was dicussed during a meeting with president of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai at the summit in Warsaw. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg noted that Afghanistan still faces instability and violence, thus political, military and financial cooperation is essential.

According to Stoltenberg, NATO agreed to promote the strong support for the mission in 2016, secondly firm obligations to continue financing of the Afghan security forces till 2020 are received.

In addition, the support for long-term political partnership and practical cooperation with Afghanistan is confirmed. Stoltenberg said that their message is obvious: they would not leave Afghanistan alone.
