Spanish police detained a group of Ukrainian and Armenian citizens suspected of money laundering, DW writes.

Eleven people, among them 10 citizens of Ukraine, including the son of former Kiev mayor  as well as a citizen of Armenia, the owner of Japanese restaurant Arman Mailyan, were detained on Tuesday morning as a result of Variola operation.

According to Spain’s national police, the suspects laundered at least 10 million euros. The money was originally derived from the Ukraine to the offshore zone in Cyprus and the Virgin Islands, and then came to Spain.

Some of suspects have Russian citizenship, police said.
