YEREVAN. – Defense Minister of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan, who is paying a visit to Lithuania, on Tuesday met with Lithuanian Minister of National Defence Juozas Olekas.

The Ministry of Defense informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that they discussed the prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the defense sector, and the key projects that are implemented within the framework of the Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan.

The interlocutors also reflected on the ongoing Armenia-European Union talks.

They also underscored the need for exchange of knowhow within Armenian-Lithuanian military collaboration. And cybersecurity and peacekeeping were highlighted as domains that have good prospects for cooperation.

In addition, the two defense ministers exchanged views on security issues in the contiguous regions of Armenia and Lithuania, including the avenues for the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict.

In this connection, Ohanyan presented the current situation around Artsakh as a result of the Azerbaijani aggression in early April. Olekas, for his part, expressed concern by the unprecedented aggravation of the situation in April, and noted that there is no alternative to a pacific settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
