YEREVAN. – The persons, who are at the capital city Yerevan patrol service regiment of the Republic of Armenia (RA) Police, on Monday were provided food and necessary medicine.

The RA National Security Service (NSS) informed about the above-said in a statement.

“As a result of negotiations, another hostage has been taken out from the seized area. Nonetheless, such encouraging events still do not guarantee the desired outcome, and do not rule out the possible tragic consequences, whose accountability will fall solely on the initiators of this attack,” the NSS statement also reads, in particular.

A group of armed men stormed into a Yerevan police regiment, on early Sunday morning, and took several police officers hostage. Deputy regiment commander Artur Vanoyan was killed, and four other police officers plus one of the attackers were wounded  during the ensuing gunfire exchange.

Negotiations are still underway to release all hostages and end the armed resistance.

The gunmen demand the release of imprisoned radical opposition activist Jirair Sefilian.
