The NATO wants to develop a dialogue with Russia, after the US newly elected president Donald Trump and the Russian president Vladimir Putin agreed to work towards a "constructive cooperation," stated the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, reports the Voice of America.

"Russia is our biggest neighbor, Russia is there to stay… And especially when tensions run high and especially when we face many different security challenges, it is important to have dialogue," Stoltenberg had told the reporters, before he started talks with EU defense ministers in Brussels.

At the same time, Stoltenberg added that the NATO “will never respect or accept the violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine."
