YEREVAN. - President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Wednesday received the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, Bridget Brink, who is in Yerevan in the framework of her regional visit.

At the outset of the meeting, the President congratulated her on the elections held, expressing conviction that the presidency of Donald Trump will not only contribute to the continuation of the Armenian-American dialogue, but also breathe a new life in it. 

Sargsyan expressed satisfaction with the fact that the visits have become more frequent recently, this positively impacting the deepening of cooperation in the economic and political spheres. He also highly appreciated the contribution of the U.S. Government to the economic development of Armenia, establishment of democracy and civil society, without which progress in these spheres would be impossible.

Nevertheless, according to Sargsyan, there is a potential for the development of ties and thus it is necessary to intensify the efforts in that direction.

Bridget Brink, for her part, expressed satisfaction with her meetings during the visit, noting that they supplement the results of the session of the intergovernmental working group. In her words, on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between U.S. and Armenia, it is possible to record effective cooperation between the states.

She also assured that the new U.S. administration is also interested in the regional processes in the South Caucasus, remaining committed to implementing the recent agreements reached for enhancing the measures taken towards strengthening the confidence for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Upon the request of Ms Brink, Serzh Sargsyan briefed the latter on the position of the Armenian side regarding the conflict settlement.
