Dozens of thousands of people took to the streets in Warsaw streets on Saturday, protesting against the educational system reforms proposed by the Polish government of conservators.

According to the chief organizer of the protest – the Polish Teachers’ Union – nearly 50,000 people, including 35,000 lecturers, who are members of trade unions, took part in it, DW reports.

The authorities insist on returning to the system, existing before 1999. It supposes division into elementary (1-8 forms) and middle school (9-12 forms). It is also planned to liquidate colleges and introduce changes in the school curriculum, which stipulates mandatory study of “patriotic values.” Apart from this, the teachers are afraid of mass redundancies.

With the coming of power of the conservative government in November 2015, various protests have been staged against the authorities in the country.
