YEREVAN. - President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Monday received the head of the European Conservatives Group (EC) of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Ian Liddell-Grainger.

Noting that the Council of Europe (CoE) has an important place among European institutions, the Armenian President noted that the priority areas created by it are commonly known also outside Europe. Sargsyan underscored the role of PACE in disseminating these values, adding that this institution reflects the voice of 800 million Europeans.

The President also attached importance to Armenia’s dialogue with PACE, as well as the political groups and factions represented there, specifically noting the European Conservatives Group (EC). In this context, Sargsyan expressed hope that the visit of the head of the European Conservatives Group (EC) to Armenia will give new impetus to the dialogue, one of the important elements of which is the reforms carried out in Armenia with the support of the CoE and international partners of Armenia.  

Stressing that the European Conservatives Group (EC) and European People’s Party (EPP) - whose member is Armenia’s ruling Republican Party - is quite an influential power in PACE, Ian Liddell-Grainger attached importance to the continuous and active cooperation with Armenia in the framework of PACE.
