YEREVAN. - Armenia will insist on its candidate for the post of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Secretary General.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Shavarsh Kocharyan, said the aforementioned at a press-conference Wednesday.

The Deputy FM recalled that “no consensus was reached regarding our candidate” at the summit held in Yerevan in October, and thus “the decision was cancelled.”

Kocharyan noted that a session will be held, during which this issue will be discussed. “We insist and think that principle of rotation should be applied,” Kocharyan noted, adding that according to that principle the next CSTO Secretary General should be a candidate from Armenia.

According to the official version, the issue on changing the CSTO Secretary General wasn’t considered at the summit in Yerevan because the Kazakhstan President didn’t attend it.
