The prosecutor's office conducted an investigation in the National Assembly of France based on the charges of embezzlement against the presidential candidate Francois Fillon and his wife. This was announced by the lower house of parliament, reports Reuters.
According to the source, the investigation took place in the administrative building of the National Assembly. The investigators were searching for documents about payments made to Penelope Fillon.
As Le Canard Enchaîné earlier reported, Penelope Fillon received a salary without making any work over 8 years as an assistant to her husband. During that time, she received around 500.000 euros.
