On December 14, Council of Earling, London district with considerable Armenian population, voted to adopt motion recognizing the Armenian Genocide.

The motion was put forward by Councillor Ara Iskandarian and seconded by Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, website of Armenian community of UK reports.

The Borough of Ealing voted to allow the placing of the Memorial plaque at the Apricot tree in Ealing Green – a memorial to 1.5 million victims of the 1915 Armenian Genocide.

In April 2009 pro-Turkish officials of the city hall banned placing the plaque, as it contained the word “Genocide”.
