The ousted Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont and four associates have turned themselves in to Belgian police, the Brussels prosecutor’s office has said, reported RIA Novosti news agency of Russia.
“They have been deprived of freedom,” the prosecutor’s office spokesperson told reporter, adding that they were detained for a “maximum period of 24 hours.”
