North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has asked the South Korean special envoy, who met with him in Pyongyang, to convey his message to US authorities, Yonhap News Agency reported.

After their talk, the special envoy stated that Kim Jong Un agreed with the US assessment with respect to the absence of progress in the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. In his words, however, the international community has not fully assessed Pyongyang’s steps toward denuclearization.

But Kim Jong Un stated that he continues hoping for the normalization of the situation in the Korean Peninsula and of relations with the US, prior to President Donald Trump’s term in office concludes in January 2021.

The North Korean leader added that he does not link the official agreement on the end of war in the Korean Peninsula to the American troops’ presence in the region.
