The meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan contributed to the prevention of the crisis situation in the Syrian province of Idlib,  Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said during his address to the UN General Assembly's Global Compact on Refugees, TASS reported.

"The presidents of the two countries have prevented a huge humanitarian tragedy in Idlib," he said. "We have demonstrated that, along with the determination to fight terrorism, we can also ensure the protection of civilians in the areas of their residence."
