Reports by the State Revenue Committee of Armenia show “diamond boom” in the country. Last year, Armenia’s diamond exports totaled 477,000 carats – a 5.6-fold increase as compared with 2009. The country’s diamond imports totaled 649,000 carats – a 3.2-fold increase compared with 2009.
Thus excess of imports over exports shows the country’s jewelry industry will be provided with raw materials this year.
In term of prices, Armenia’s diamond exports totaled U.S. $92 million, and imports U.S. $95 million.
