A series of huge blasts hit Libya’s capital Tripoli, BBC reports referring to witnesses.

According to American mass media, the explosions were caused by oil tanker which had fallen on its side. It is yet unclear whether the incident is an act of sabotage. No information on victims is available.

The witnesses report seeing a fire, smoke, security forces and fire engines.

According to some sources, 600-2000 people were killed, 4000 injured in anti-government protests in Libya. The demonstrators protest against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s regime, who has been in power for more than 40 years.
