On March 2, Arab foreign ministers condemned Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi’s bloody crackdown on his own people, and said they could consider imposing a no-fly zone over the country if the fighting continues.

“Arab countries cannot watch, with their hands tied in the face, the bloodshed that the Libyan people are facing,” the ministers said in a statement after talks in Cairo.

The Arab ministers said they will focus their discussions about a no-fly zone with the African Union and discuss “the best ways to protect and ensure the safety and security of Libyan citizens.”

Meanwhile, the ministers opposed any kind of foreign interference in the internal affairs of Libya, stressing the necessity to respect national unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, ITAR-TASS reports.
