Unless yesterday’s actions of policeman against the Heritage party get adequate response and the issue is settled, party will appeal to the court, party’s MP Armen Martirosyan told the journalists today.

“We will demand an investigation and expect those policemen who violated the law would be dismissed,” he noted.

As to yesterday’s protest action near the government building, it was a peaceful one. He stressed that it is a crime to order policemen to act against peaceful demonstrators. “If the authorities do not control situation in the country they should rather solve current problems instead of impelling policemen to illegal actions,” Martirosyan noted.

On March 3, a group of demonstrators gathered in front of the building of the Armenian Government and protested against banning all forms of street trade in Yerevan. Over 40 policemen led by Deputy Police Chief Robert Melkonyan attacked the protestors, among them members of the Heritage party.
