Libyan authorities have sent a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon expressing willingness to replace permanent ambassador to the organization Mohamed Shalgham and deputy ambassador Ibrahim Dabbashi, RIA Novosti reported referring to AP.  

Former foreign minister Ali Abdussalam Treki will be appointed Libya’s permanent representative to the UN.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, Ambassador Mohamed Shalgham called on Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi “to let Libyan people alone” and expressed his support for the sanctions against Libyan leadership.

Protest actions and clashes continue in Libya since February. The demonstrators demand Muammar Gaddafi’s resignation The death toll is reported to reach several thousands.

Earlier foreign countries evacuated their citizens from Libya. Four Armenian citizens were evacuated from by a Russian plane. The number of refugees has already reached 180,000, UN reports.
