The Rancho Cordova resident of Armenian origin faces deportation as she illegally entered the U.S. nine years ago, the Sacramento Bee website reports.

Silva Mamigonian was told by immigration officials she had to return back to Armenia as the woman entered U.S. with someone else’s passport and claimed to be a U.S. citizen.

Her husband and two sons are U.S. citizens. Friends and family have helped with the couple’s $100,000 legal fees, including a recent $7,000 retainer to Mamigonian’s attorney, the website says.
