YEREVAN. – All are equal before the law, and no one can be treated as privileged in any area, be it culture or other area, Deputy PM Tigran Avinyan told reporters on Monday.

His comment came amid protest action of the staff of opera and ballet theater against the decision to dismiss theater’s manager Constantine Orbelian.

Avinyan said he is aware of the protest actions and the demands, however, he sees a problem here.

“If there is a law, it is obligatory for all. Having respect towards Orbelian’s merits in this field, no one is treated more privileged than others in any area, including culture,” he said.

H also commented on the letter addressed to PM Pashinyan by the heads of theaters who are demanding resignation of Acting Culture Minister Nazeni Gharibyan.

“Since the culture ministry will be merged with the ministry of education and science, I think we will approach the solution at that stage,” he said.
